In a sunny, lush vineyard, a person in jeans and a blue shirt expertly harvests green grapes with pruning shears, their tool pouch at the ready. This is Paso Robles, known for its exquisite Bordeaux blends flourishing under the radiant sun amidst rows of vibrant grapevines.

Handcrafted Bordeaux Blends, Rooted in Paso Robles

In a place this powerful, nature calls the shots. Our vines cling to steep, unrelenting limestone slopes in Paso Robles, buffeted by wind and warmed by the sun. The earth, the sky, and the pull of the ocean work in unexpected ways to bring forth fruit that’s simultaneously stirringly powerful and heartbreakingly beautiful.

Our Approach

We have found that this terroir imparts unexpected elegance to Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, surprising delicacy to Merlot, savory warmth to Malbec. Our fruit is naturally high in acidity, with infinite amounts of phenolic potential. It hums with energy. We pick early, which keeps our alcohol levels in check.

Our approach to crafting Bordeaux blends includes minimal intervention — we never fine or filter. Our cooperage varies depending upon the vintage and grape variety. The experience of blending our barrels is nothing short of revelatory, year after year.

Farming for the Long Haul

We could make more wine, but to do that, we’d have to alter the ethics of our viticultural approach. And we aren’t willing to compromise. We have farmed organically since day one. And we work sustainably, using water judiciously and offsetting our energy use with solar panels. Sit on our patio or deck for long enough and you’ll see (and hear) finches, blue jays, red-tailed hawks, and the occasional bald eagle. At twilight, we see turkey, deer, and coyote. We dodge rattlesnakes, and steer clear of bobcats and bears. Because our pesticide- and insecticide-free estate has always been, and always will be, a haven for a wide range of wildlife.

Bordeaux Perspective, Paso Soul

This is where tradition meets terrain. We may work with classic Bordeaux varieties, but we don’t try to imitate Bordeaux. We honor it—with structure, intention, and restraint—while letting Paso Robles express its raw beauty in every glass.

These wines are unmistakably ours. They carry the tension of limestone, the warmth of California sun, and the detail that only comes from working with fruit you’ve farmed yourself. Every vintage tells a different story. Our job is to listen.
