Fall 2021 Allocation

A note from the winemaker:
In contrast to the extremely hot 2017 vintage, 2018 offered a much more classic weather pattern. 20 inches of winter rain was followed by a moderate spring and warm summer. Harvest was 10 days later than in 2017 and lasted about 2 weeks longer. The hallmarks of the wines from this vintage are dark, and savory fruit flavors paired with great structure. These wines will benefit from a short decant or a few more years in your cellar.

The Wines


2018 Estate Cuvee

48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc

Tantalizing aromas of blueberry, cocoa, and gardenia intermingle with hints of dried straw, Tulsi, and petrichor. The palate is filled with flavors of black cherry, plum, and coffee bean that evolve into a silky midpalate. This wine is graceful and fresh, yet still powerful on the long lingering finish.

Vineyard: 100% Estate – Adelaida District, Paso Robles.

Fermentation: Destemmed and cold soaked for 5 days with daily pump-overs. 9-day fermentation with a mix of delestages, pump-overs and punchdowns for cap management. 14-day total maceration.

Cooperage and Elevage: Aged for 26 months in 225L French oak barriques: 62% new, 38% neutral.

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon

79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot

A boastful nose of chocolate truffle, humidor, iodine, currant and sweet herbs introduce this stunning Cabernet. Flavors of black licorice, blueberry, and violet come together in the dense and chewy midpalate. The finish lightens up as the velvety tannins take over and bring this wine to an elegant finish. .

Vineyard: 100% Estate Adelaida District, Paso Robles.

Fermentation: Destemmed and cold soaked for 7 days with daily pump-overs. 8-day fermentation with a mix of delestages, pump-overs and punchdowns for cap management. 15-day total maceration.

Cooperage and Elevage: Aged for 22 months in 225L French oak barriques: 75% new, 20% neutral.

2018 Apparition

58% Cabernet Franc, 22% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2018 Apparition is brightly pitched with a bouquet of black cherry, worn leather, sage, nutmeg and cranberry. The incredibly complex palate brings flavors of red currant, violet, thyme and just a hint of graphite. The dense midpalate evolves into a deeply structured finish that flaunts its vibrant acidity and age worthy tannins .

Vineyard: 100% Estate Adelaida District, Paso Robles.

Fermentation: Destemmed and cold soaked for 7 days with daily pump-overs. 5-day fermentation with a mix of delestages, pump-overs and punchdowns for cap management. 12-day total maceration.

Cooperage and Elevage: Aged for 22 months in 225L barriques 67% neutral French oak, and 33% new French oak.
